As the current face of GoDaddy's latest campaign, "Daddy of Domains," Walton Goggins had to lean into the daddy label that's been applied to him in recent years thanks to the success of shows, like Fallout, The Righteous Gemstones and The White Lotus.

The new ad, which PEOPLE exclusively debuted on April 22, comes after a year of high-profile commercials for the 54-year-old actor, who starred in his first-ever Super Bowl spot for the web hosting company, appeared in a "spicy" short film for Doritos and became the Grinch for Walmart's holiday campaign.

"When we did the Super Bowl commercial for Walton Goggins Goggle Glasses, what I found so rewarding was being given the opportunity to step into this space and embrace the challenge and the creativity of telling a story in 15 seconds, 30 seconds or in 60 seconds," the actor tells PEOPLE.

"It's something that I've always wanted to do," he adds.

However, going from starring in movies, like Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight and Django Unchained, and various TV shows, including his breakout role on Justified, to short-form storytelling required some help from one of his friends and former costars.

"I got some really good advice from one of my best friends, Sam Jackson," Goggins says of the actor, who he shared the screen with in both of Tarantino's movies. "I asked him early on, I said, 'Sam, how do you do it?' "

"Well, I stood in front of a mirror and I said, 'What's in your wallet? What's in your wallet?' " he recalls of Jackson, 77, reciting his slogan as the ongoing spokesperson for Capital One. "And I thought to myself, 'Well, why not me? I have something to say, and I sell things that I believe in.' "

Goggins adds that "when he said that to me, being like he's a true mentor of mine, I thought, if I ever get the chance to work with a company on the level of GoDaddy or a few of the other companies that I've worked with, I'm going to speak from my heart and I'm going to do it my way, and maybe there will be a place for me in that world."

And over the past year, in particular, "that's kind of happened for me. And I love it, man. I relish that," the actor continues.

When it comes to his latest GoDaddy ad, Goggins reveals that they "filmed the spot in Madrid," where he's currently shooting the Prime Video movie Mister. "They made the trek, and I had a day. That was it. And everybody knew the time constraints. But we set it up and I knew what GoDaddy wanted to talk about," he says of the quick turnaround.

Given his own experiences with building a brand through the web hosting company, "I was as passionate about this message as they were," Goggins says, revealing his approach to being the face of the meta-themed campaign. "It's like, well, how do you reach those people and get the message to them? Make it fun."
