It's been a busy few years for Trisha Yearwood.
In an interview on a recent episode of the Southern Living podcast Biscuits & Jam, the country star, 61, spoke about how she's been quite active not only throughout 2025 but since coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I've had a really busy year. I was gonna make another record and ended up making two," said Yearwood, who released both an original record, The Mirror, and a festive offering, Christmastime, in 2025. "So it's been kind of a crazy year, but it's been good."

The two albums followed Yearwood's fourth cookbook, Trisha's Kitchen: Easy Comfort Food for Friends and Family, released in 2021 — and she opened up about how creative she's been over the past few years.
"When you make your first album in your career, you're home all the time because no one knows who you are yet. And then if you're lucky enough to be successful, you're really busy," reflects the star, whose first album was released in 1991. "So making that next record is usually really hard."
For Yearwood, writing the latest cookbook felt like "a gift in that time because it really gave me something to focus on, a way to be creative."
"It was really around 2022 that I started kinda flexing the songwriter muscle. Maybe it did come out of a reevaluation of like, you know, 'What do I really wanna do next? And what is important to me?' And something just kind of clicked, and I started writing a lot," she said, noting that writing was "something I had not done very much of because I didn't have any belief in myself."

Yearwood added, "I don't know if it's, like, turning 60 — I mean, I'm 61 now, but it was like I just flipped the switch, and I'm like, 'I'm gonna do what I wanna do, and I'm gonna decide what's true about me and I'm gonna write.' I had no idea I was gonna make an album. I just was gonna write."
The "She's in Love with the Boy" musician, who's married to Garth Brooks, explained the songwriting process was "kind of therapeutic."
"And then everybody who loves me said, 'Uh, you need to record these songs.' And so that's kind of what started it," continued the artist. "I already had the plan to make a Christmas album, and then I had to fit in this regular album, too, but it's been so wonderful. I mean, music is the thing that beats my soul, so it's been great."
