Whoopi Goldberg's chair is no longer empty at *The View*'s Hot Topics table, but the show's audience risers, however, are as cold and empty as the streets of New York City after its first blizzard in a decade.
One day after the blizzard pelted the area with more than a foot of snow — and caused moderator Goldberg to join the broadcast virtually as the series left her seat empty — Tuesday's broadcast saw all the cohosts walking out to the table. The camera then cut to shots of empty audience chairs in the long-running program's Manhattan studio.
A few members of the crew could be heard applauding Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and fill-in guest panelist Amanda Carpenter as they walked out from backstage, with Goldberg laughing during her introduction.
"Well, hello, hello, hello, and welcome to *The View*," Goldberg said, while Behar asked, "What is this sound of one hand clapping?"

The panel laughed as Goldberg informed everyone, "I wasn't here yesterday, so welcome back, Whoopi! Well, thank you!"
Behar pushed back, telling her colleague that she "saw the show" and that Goldberg was definitely on the program.
"I was not here," Goldberg replied, while Behar backtracked to correct herself by saying Goldberg was "not in this exact space."

"That is my point. I am now in my chair. I'm welcoming myself back," replied Goldberg. Haines comically pointed out that Behar "also wasn't here," as the 83-year-old cohost and comedian typically has Mondays off.
"Can I just say, enough with the snow! It's enough already," Behar lamented as the show went on.
Haines maintained that it's "kind of fun stuff to play in," though Behar quickly countered her by quipping, "Yeah, if you're 5."

One day earlier, ** learned that Goldberg's empty chair at the table was a stylistic choice for the reveal that the EGOT winner wasn't with her cohosts in the studio. The chair was removed for later segments.
Monday's moment marked the second time the show has gone without a live studio audience in the span of a month, after the Jan. 26 telecast also didn't have a live studio audience as New York City was under a state of emergency due to another snowstorm.**
*The View* airs weekdays on ABC.
