Slash is seeking to be credited for an alleged $1.5 million overpayment in spousal support to ex-wife Perla Ferrar

The musician claims his business manager inadvertently failed to adjust payments as the amount owed decreased

Slash is asking a court to let him deduct an alleged $1.5 million overpayment in spousal support from future payments to his ex-wife.

The Guns N’ Roses rocker (whose real name is Saul Hudson) claims his business manager mistakenly continued making higher support payments to former wife Perla Ferrar even after the amount owed had decreased over the years, according to an Aug. 13 court filing obtained by PEOPLE. TMZ was first to report the news.

Slash, 61, currently pays Ferrar $100,000 a month, along with additional quarterly payments tied to his income above certain thresholds, according to the documents. The former couple married in 2001, and he filed for divorce in 2014. They share sons London, 23, and Cash, 22.

“I have faithfully supported [Ferrar] for the last 11.5 years, and followed our judgment with regard to the payments due to her,” he wrote in the filing. “I have tasked my business manager, Pam Malek of Focus Partners, who has been working with me since 2015, with the calculation and payment of the funds due by me to [Ferrar].”

Slash alleges that Malek made an “error” and did not notice that the spousal support cap had dropped in 2021, 2022 and 2023, resulting in $3.42 million being paid each year when the amounts should have been capped. He claims the difference resulted in a $1.5 million overpayment across the three-year period, something he says Malek “recently discovered.”

The Grammy winner claims in the filing that the two sides attempted to resolve the issue privately in March, but Ferrar’s team did not agree to the proposed resolution.

Ferrar did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

The documents show that Slash agreed in 2018 to pay Ferrar $6.6 million as part of their divorce settlement, in addition to the monthly $100,000 payments.

She added her own message over the video: “Ps l’m single if you know someone who is on my level energetically, physically, emotionally, and financially let me know.”

In another post, Ferrar shared a meme featuring Ariel from The Little Mermaid holding up her middle finger alongside the words, “Kinda chic to build your own happily ever after, single.”

She also shared another meme that read, “Kinda chic to stay single instead of settle just bc you’re scared to be alone.”
