Shia LaBeouf is still spending time in New Orleans, one week after the actor was arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery after an alleged altercation that took place during Mardi Gras celebrations in the city.
LaBeouf, 39, was photographed wearing a red fleece sweatshirt and hoodie in New Orleans on Monday, Feb. 23. The actor moved to New Orleans "as a reset" and to spend more time with his father following his split from Mia Goth last year, a source recently told PEOPLE.
The actor's presence in the city received significant public attention when he was arrested in the French Quarter neighborhood on Feb. 17. In a statement provided to PEOPLE, the New Orleans Police Department alleged that LaBeouf punched two men after causing a disturbance at a business on Royal Street. The department alleged the actor "used his closed fists on the victim several times," left the scene, and returned later, where he allegedly struck the same victim and punched another man "in the nose." He was later transported to a hospital where he was treated for unknown injuries, and then arrested.
LaBeouf, who has a troubled legal history and has spoken openly in recent years about his sobriety and efforts to rebuild his life, appeared to hit the town shortly after his arrest. He was spotted dancing alongside Mardi Gras revelers on Bourbon Street on Feb. 17 while holding blue-and-white jail release paperwork in his mouth as he moved through the crowd, according to local news outlet WGNO.

Following LaBeouf's arrest, the Megalopolis actor was also photographed jogging on Thursday, Feb. 19. In the wake of his arrest, he has been sharing messages, photos and videos on his X account: on Feb. 18, LaBeouf wrote the phrase "Free me," on the social media platform. The two-word post, along with a selfie LaBeouf uploaded to X showing him wearing sunglasses and beads on Feb. 15, were the first messages he had posted to social media since December.

In the last week, LaBeouf has also shared two videos of musicians performing in New Orleans venues. Early on Tuesday morning, Feb. 24, the actor posted a photo to X showing him posing with funk musician and bassist George Porter Jr., whom LaBeouf identified simply as a "Nola legend" in the post.

LaBeouf, who welcomed his daughter Isabel with Goth, 32, in 2022, was previously arrested in Georgia in 2017 on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct and was later ordered to attend court-mandated treatment.
Musician FKA Twigs also filed a lawsuit against LaBeouf alleging sexual battery, assault and infliction of emotional distress in December 2020. The case was settled in July 2025 and LaBeouf denied the allegations.
