Robin Wright revealed she's a huge fan of dynamic dancing sibling duo Derek Hough and his sister, Julianne Hough — although she thought their relationship was something very different at the start.

Wright was notably starstruck when approaching Derek for an interview on the red carpet at the 2026 Golden Globes on Sunday night. "Wait, you're the brother of Julianne. I love her," the *House of Cards* star exclaimed as she joined the *Extra* host.

"I love her too," Derek cheerfully responded, which prompted Wright to make her surprising admission. "Can I tell you something?" Wright asked. "When I first saw her dance, I was like, 'They're married.'"

Derek burst into laughter before reassuring the actress that she isn't the first to make that mistake, "Oh, yeah! Yeah, I've got that sometimes."

"You guys are amazing together," Wright added, sharing that she's a regular watcher of the pair's joint dance videos. "I follow you guys on Instagram and watch you guys move,"

The Houghs grew up dancing together, having underwent the same ballroom training as youngsters and starting on *DWTS *the same year back in 2007. But their journeys on the show greatly diverged as the years passed.

Julianne, who joined a season before Derek, won her first two seasons alongside partners Apolo Anton Ohno and Hélio Castroneves. Derek, who joined the dance competition series as a guest instructor while his sister, officially became a pro in 2008 for season 5 and remained in the position until season 23 in 2016 (except for seasons 12 and 22).

During his tenure, Derek won six seasons — the most Mirrorball Trophies of any dancer. He nabbed his first win with Brooke Burke on season 7 in 2008, his second with Nicole Scherzinger on season 10 in 2010, his third with Jennifer Grey on season 11 in 2010, his fourth with Kellie Pickler on season 16 in 2013, his fifth with Amber Riley on season 17 in 2013, and his sixth with Bindi Irwin on season 21 in 2015.

After Julianne departed the series as a pro following season 8, she returned to guest judge seasons 18, 19, 25, and 30, and sat in as a full judge alongside Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and the late Len Goodman on seasons 19, 20, 21, 23, and 24.

Derek, meanwhile, powered through as a pro parter from season 5 to season 23, only briefly hitting pause for seasons 12 and 22.

Now, the two are back together with Derek serving as a judge, and Julianne as a cohost.

Unsurprisingly, the siblings have admitted that there was a bit of a rivalry between them while they both featured on the show.**

"When she went [on the show], I was like, 'Oh, okay, now I have to go on.' And then she won that season," Derek shared in a joint interview with *US Weekly* last November.

Although Derek undeniably has a larger number of trophies, he revealed that Julianne often had a special explanation that put their accomplishments in context.

"We joke around. She'll say, 'I won the show twice,' and I'll be like, 'I won six times,' and she goes, 'Yeah, but I was only on the show for five seasons.' She won two out of five and I won six out of 17, so her ratio is better," he quipped.**
