Pluribus star Rhea Seehorn won Best Actress in a Drama Series at the 2026 Critics' Choice Awards on Jan. 4
Her role as Carol Sturka in Pluribus marked the second time she has worked with Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan
Pluribus, which debuted in November, is streaming on Apple TV+
Rhea Seehorn reflected on being cast in Apple TV+’s Pluribus after winning Best Actress in a Drama Series at the 2026 Critics' Choice Awards.
The actress, 53, shared backstage in the Jan. 4 ceremony’s press room why she committed to taking on the lead role in creator Vince Gilligan’s science-fiction drama series before even laying her eyes on the script.
“Honestly, I’ll go wherever Vince wants me to go,” she explained of working with the acclaimed TV show creator, whom she previously collaborated with on Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul.

Seehorn continued, “When he called me and said he wrote something for me and said, ‘But I’m not ready to give you the script,’ I said, ‘It doesn’t matter, just yes.’ And he was like, ‘Well, no, just wait and read it.’ ”
“I said, ‘No, it’s fine. It’s just fine. We’ll do it,’ ” she recalled of her answer.
In Pluribus, Seehorn plays Carol Sturka, a romance author who is one of only 13 people immune to an alien virus that turned billions of people into an eerily happy collective hive mind. Ahead of the show’s Nov. 7 premiere, Apple TV+ described the show’s mysterious premise as “the most miserable person on Earth [Carol] must save the world from happiness.”

Seehorn previously told PEOPLE in November, “Vince said to me — I’ll try to do it without crying — he said to me that somewhere along the line he was watching me in Saul, and whenever we took a little swerve and it was comedic or it was dark or psychological or dramatic, that there was some point at which he was like, ‘I want to give her these other things to do.’ ”

Gilligan at the time also said, “Rhea’s character, she’s kind of a troubled and imperfect hero, but she’s doing her best to save the world.”
At the Critics' Choice Awards’ press room, Seehorn also remembered Gilligan telling her during the first day of working on Pluribus together, “We’ve been working together for 10 years.”
“And I was like, ‘No, we haven’t.’ Then, I did the math because of Better Call Saul … and it has been that long,” she continued. “And for somebody who I think is one of the best writers, television writers, probably just writers of all time in our generation, to say that they want to create a role for me — that’s a lot. I’m still working on taking that one in.”
