A member of the British royal family is facing another health struggle.

Princess Michael of Kent, 81, is "bedridden" after suffering a stroke, according to Richard Eden of the Daily Mail. A representative for the family had no comment when reached by PEOPLE.

Princess Michael — who is married to Prince Michael of Kent, a first cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth — has dealt with a number of health issues in recent years. After undergoing heart surgery in 2023, she broke both of her wrists in a fall down the stairs of her home at Kensington Palace the following year.

Princess Michael was last seen in public at the September 2026 funeral of Katharine, the Duchess of Kent. Prince Michael, 83, attended Kate Middleton's "Together at Christmas" carol service in December without his wife by his side and using a wheelchair.

Born Baroness Marie-Christine von Reibnit, Princess Michael married into the British royal family in 1978. They have two children: Lord Frederick Windsor and Lady Gabriella.

In addition to health issues, Prince and Princess Michael's family was struck by tragedy in 2024 with the death of Lady Gabriella's husband, Thomas Kingston. A spokesperson for the coroner's office previously told PEOPLE that the 45-year-old's cause of death was "traumatic wound to the head," and a gun was found near his body.

Princess Michael told Majesty Magazine in an interview later that year, "Tom was a lovely man, so kind and thoughtful. They were very happy together."
