Live from New York, it’s Olivia Rodrigo! Last night, the artist returned to Saturday Night Live for her third gig on the show—and this time, she served double duty. As both host and musical guest, she balanced humorous sketches with powerful performances, transforming from a baker to a cheating girlfriend to herself. And as herself, she debuted a new emotional ballad, “begged.”
For the performances of both “begged” and her latest hit single, “drop dead,” Rodrigo leaned into ballet-core style, giving the trend a vintage, romantic touch that’s started to define her new era.

First taking the stage, which was transformed into an underground world tucked beneath a headstone marking the spot where Rodrigo “dropped dead,” the star sang the first track off of her forthcoming third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.

She wore a sheer lace teddy romper from the 1920s, with pastel shades of mint green and beige contrasting with her dark surroundings. At the center, a rose detail added a delicate, girly touch, and at the skirt, pleated inserts gave it the movement needed for the stage. She wore the piece with white over-the-knee leg warmers and ballet slippers.

For “begged,” she kept the leg warmers, but swapped the dress and shoes. Here, she wore the cozy accessory with a long sheer top, designed with frilly cap sleeves and a floor-sweeping train. She added little silk shorts and sang from a swing, mirroring her new album cover. As for shoes, she went with heels this time, elevating the ballerina feel.
