Nick Kyrgios faces a suspension of up to four years for testing positive for cocaine in June during an event in Spain.
Kyrgios, 31, has been disciplined for various reasons during his career. The fiery Australian is just 1-3 this year, posted a 1-4 record in 2025, and said he was struggling to confront chronic injuries and what he feared could be the end of his pro career.
"I recently failed a drug test in Mallorca after testing positive for cocaine," he said in the social media post. "I made a huge mistake and take full responsibility for it."
Kyrgios has not appealed the provisional suspension in place since Aug. 4 as he awaits the hearing under the watch of the International Tennis Integrity Agency.

"At times I've felt helpless and alone. None of that excuses what I did," he said.
Krygios said injuries have taken a "huge toll on me, both physically and mentally. My body hasn't been able to do what my mind expects it to do."
A Wimbledon finalist in 2022, Kyrgios injured his knee in October of that year and encountered a wrist strain that derailed his 2023 season. The nine-time singles title winner currently is ranked 919th.
"The good news is that this has given me a wake up call," Kyrgios said. "For the next 28 days I'll be stepping away from social media and public life while I focus on getting myself right."
