Metallica is coming to Sphere!

On Wednesday, Feb. 25, the heavy metal band composed of James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo announced its Life Burns Faster residency at the iconic Las Vegas venue.

The eight-show run will kick off on Oct. 1 before wrapping on Halloween. Show dates also include Oct. 3, Oct. 15, Oct. 17, Oct. 22, Oct. 24 and Oct. 29.

"About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ‘23, I thought ‘We have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory!’ This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting," Metallica co-founder and drummer Ulrich, 62, said.

“We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way f---in' psyched to go next level,” he added.

The residency, produced by Live Nation and presented by inKind, “will see live staples and surprises spanning the Metallica catalog enhanced by the venue’s immersive technologies that will allow fans to experience the sound and fury of the band’s live performance in new experiential dimensions,” per a press release.

The release highlights some of Sphere’s unique features, including its world’s highest resolution LED display wrapping the audience, immersive sound and multi-sensory 4D technology.

The “Master of Puppets” hitmakers will continue its No Repeat Weekend tradition that was started in 2023, meaning there will be no songs repeated on each Thursday and Saturday show. The band will honor the tradition by selling Two-Night No Repeat Weekend tickets in addition to single-night tickets.

Tickets go on sale on March 6 at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT.

Metallica released its first studio album, Kill 'Em All in 1983, followed by Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets. The band has played to over four million fans on its M72 World Tour in support of its 11th studio album, 72 Seasons.

The album features the namesake song as a single, along with "Lux Æterna,” "Screaming Suicide” and "If Darkness Had a Son.”

Last June, Ulrich spoke to PEOPLE about the band’s special fanbase in an interview at the premiere of the Metallica Saved My Life documentary.

"There's such an incredible diversity among the fans and so many different stories and so many different worlds that they all come from and that they all inhabit," he said. "We thought to share that diversity would be a lot of fun, and to celebrate the fans and to scream from the rooftops about who they are and kind of turn the spotlight a little bit away from us and onto them because they're Metallica as much as we are.”
