The “Am I Okay?” singer, 28, recently stopped by Raising Cane’s in Novi, Mich. ahead of her sold-out stop on her Cloud 9 tour at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Monday, Aug. 17 to test her skills working a surprise “shift” — her third ever — for eager fans and customers alike.
“I think I would survive here and I think that I wouldn’t get fired,” Moroney laughed to PEOPLE. “I think I would be good at taking the orders in the drive-through because my favorite thing that I say is, ‘Yo, yo-yo, you want some chicken to go?’ I love a rhyme … If nothing else, I’m a personality hire!”

The self-proclaimed “Emo Cowgirl” recently caused a buzz on social media when the chicken chain gifted her a customized pink rhinestone tumbler that was originally only meant to be one of a kind, but now has fans in a frenzy trying to get their hands on one for sale.
“[Raising Cane’s] surprised me in Athens at my first event with with a bedazzled cup and I was carrying it around all day, and I posted it to my social media and then my fans’ response largely was, ‘Where can I get one of these?’ So we just brought the idea up to the team to make it available for everyone, and it’s been a big hit,” she says. “So it’s really exciting and really funny to see everyone on social media go around all the different Cane’s trying to find one.”
For every tumbler sold, $2 will go to the Megan Moroney Foundation, the singer’s non-profit focused on combating bullying and championing mental health, and a cause Moroney says has become important to her after interacting with fans on and off the road.

“Anytime I can raise money for my foundation, we’re gonna do it,” she says. “ I think, you know, I have a lot of influence over the younger generation, and when I read my messages and I read letters people write me and I meet people in person, mental health is such a strong topic.”

She adds: “It’s just really important to me to raise money and put awareness on mental health for young people because I think everyone’s going through something and it’s important to talk about it.”
Moroney is finishing up the U.S. leg of her Cloud 9 tour, which will head to Europe and the United Kingdom next month with a kick-off in Oslo, Norway.
Though Moroney says she’s “sad” for the U.S. part of the tour (her largest headlining outing yet) to end, she’s learned so much from being on the road this go around — especially what her music means to her fans.

“I think it’s more than a concert and that’s what I’ve realized on this tour. I think, genuinely, the show has helped people, which is not something I ever imagined would be possible as an artist,” Moroney explains. “You think like, ‘Oh, I’m just here to entertain.’ But when I meet my fans and read messages and stuff, the show has changed some of their lives. So it’s really impactful, and it’s just made me feel very grateful for all of the good things that has come with the tour.”

Moroney gushes that the atmosphere and vibe at any one of her shows is guaranteed to be “such a positive, inclusive, happy environment” even when she and the crowd are “singing about really sad stuff.”
After tour wraps, the “Cloud 9” singer is looking forward to some much-deserved R&R. “I’m probably gonna go to the beach for an extended period of time,” she laughs. “And sleep. I’m gonna take a nap!”
