Jenna Bush Hager made some crucial, last-minute edits to her royal introduction thanks to the advice of her daughter.
The 44-year-old co-host of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle had the opportunity to interview Queen Camilla during her United States visit on Wednesday, April 29.
As the 78-year-old wife of King Charles visited the New York Public Library, she spoke with Bush Hager about her passion for literacy in an interview featured on the Today show. Bush Hager, who runs the Read with Jenna book club and also has her own publishing imprint, Thousand Voices, had the opportunity to introduce the Queen, who gave a speech to the star-studded crowd.
“I really have been preparing because it wasn't just the interview. I also hosted a panel,” Bush Hager explained to her co-host Sheinelle Jones the day after the appearance. “I also had to introduce the Queen, which, imagine having to introduce the Queen of England.”

Turns out, the mother of three made a last-minute rewrite to her speech at the suggestion of her 13-year-old daughter, Mila.
“I had to write the introduction. It was a lot on my plate,” she shared. “I had to practice the introduction, and Mila actually said, she goes, 'You're talking too much about yourself.' And by the way, I woke up at 4 in the morning yesterday, and I changed the introduction.”
But the speech wasn't Mila's only negative critique.
“She said my hair needed some work,” Bush Hager quipped of her eldest daughter.

However, it all paid off as the TV personality and daughter of former President George W. Bush had a first-time parenting experience as a result of her regal day out.
“Yesterday, [Mila] said, 'Where are you?' She wrote me on her iPad when she got home from school. 'Where are you?' ” Bush Hager shared. “And I said, 'I'm still in the city. I just interviewed the Queen,' and she said, 'Proud of Y.' And then she said, 'Proud of you.' And she's never said that to me before, so I feel good about it.”

Bush Hager is also mom to daughter Poppy, 10, and son Hal, 6, with her husband, Henry Hager. The last time she met the Queen, she was the Duchess of Cornwall on her first official visit to the States in 2005.
“I brought Henry, my husband, as my [then] 6-month-old boyfriend,” Bush Hager recalled of the event. “He was like, ‘Wow, you're really throwing me into the fire on this one.”
Bush Hager told PEOPLE at the New York Public Library event that she admired Queen Camilla's "love of reading."
“I feel her reach is so massive, so to speak about the importance of literacy and getting books into the homes of every child,no matter where you’re born, is something that’s so important, and I’m totally on board. If she needs a member of the Queen’s Reading Room —I’m in," she added.
