The Killers are no strangers to topping the charts. But after one of their smash hits was named the most-streamed song of the 2000s, the band's hilarious reaction went viral.
Chart Data announced the list of "Most-streamed song by release decade in 2025" on January 14, revealing that The Killers' "Mr. Brightside" was No. 1 for songs released in the 2000s. The 2003 anthem fell among chart-toppers like Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" for the 1980s and Chris Stapleton's "Tennessee Whiskey" for the 2010s.\

The band reshared the news via its official Instagram profile on Friday, January 16, writing, "Not boasting, purely statistical."
Fans went wild in the comments section, with one fan calling the hit, "The official anthem of the 00s."
"This song would awaken me out of the upside down," another follower joked.
"LOL to seeing a post just today where someone said they’re sure Mr Brightside is the millennials version of Don’t Stop Believing as their generational hype song," another added.
One mega fan commented, "I take responsibility for 99% of those streams."

"As decades disappear like sinking ships, Mr B will live on for decades to come, its the anthem or all anthems," another added.
"Mr. Brightside" was the first song the band ever wrote, and went on to become the debut single off The Killers' first album, Hot Fuss.
The song has achieved many accolades over the years, including two Grammy nominations, being named the No. 1 Song of 2005 by Billboard staff, and selling more than 3.5 million copies in the U.S.
In May 2024, Chart Data—which compiles data provided by Billboard, Soundscan, Mediatraffic, and more—reported "Mr. Brightside" was crowned the UK's best-selling single to never reach No. 1.
"With 5.57 million units sold, it surpasses 'Wonderwall' by Oasis," Chart Data tweeted at the time.
